The MoUs are for 1,000 MW of wind power and 1,000 MW of solar power projects. These projects will involve a total investment of Rs 13,000 crore and will create employment for 4,000 skilled and unskilled workers.These projects will be spread across eight districts of Andhra Pradesh, of which five districts will be evaluated for wind power opportunities for the very first time. Mytrah is planning to implement and execute the projects within three years from the date of getting all statutory clearances from the state government. Upon commissioning of all the assigned projects, Mytrah will become the state's largest renewable power IPP

7198 Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu today inaugurated Gamesa India’s ₹1,000-crore blade and nacelle manufacturing facility at Nellore, 180 km north of Chennai. Gamesa, which is the country’s largest wind turbine company in terms of sales, has invested ₹500 crore so far to set up a plant that will make blades for its flagship product, G 114-2.0. Up till now, Gamesa has been getting its blades either from its own plant in Halol, Gujarat, or buys from other companies, notably LM of Denmark which has plants in India. The remaining ₹500 crore will come up in due course, for a factory to make nacelles — the ‘box’ on top of windmills, which houses the electricity-producing generators. In addition, the plant will make inverters for solar power plants. The plant has created 500 jobs, a number that will double in three years.

It aims to achieve a revenue of ₹2,000 crore by then. The company will also hire around 200 people for its Indian operations, which has around 990 people at present, Sunjay Kapur, Managing Director, Sona BLW Precision Forgings, told reporters here. The company manufactures precision forged bevel gears, differential case assemblies and synchroniser rings for automotive and other applications. “To achieve a revenue of ₹2,000 crore in the next three-five years in India, we need to invest close to ₹300-400 crore. We felt that we need to invest more in the business that we have in a global scale,” Kapur said. He said the Group’s forging business was around 20 per cent of the global market. “For forged gears, we are investing heavily in terms of new products in the value chain.” Kapur said the automobile industry was getting disruptive and a lot of new things were emerging, comparable to the IT industry in terms of the rate of change. Asked about the Group selling its entire stake in the steering business to JTEKT Corporation (of Japan), Kapur said: “The steering business was limited to India. We had set up that business in the early 1980s for Maruti, and JTEKT increased their stake in early 2000.” Again, in 2007, JTEKT set up JTEKT Sona Automotive, a subsidiary of Sona Koyo. That business was into electronic power steering and JTEKT owned majority stake of 51 per cent

Confirming the development, a first for the company, GCMMF managing director R S Sodhi said they had space available at the spot, and thought of experimenting with the set-up. “It is still a small format there. We would also be selling pulses, spices, grains, oil etc. under the Amul Green brand from that store. Sodhi added the restaurant (named Amul Foodland) is a quick service one and it would serve items like burgers and patties. While some see this as Amul’s tryst with modern retail, Sodhi clarified that as of now there were no plans of replicating the same in other regions. The area was previously rented to a restaurant. The retail outlet would sell around 6,500 items including food and other products. The cooperative is selling food items like oil, nuts, spices, grains and pulses under the Amul Green brand at the retail outlet. These are being procured in bulk by the cooperative and are packaged and sold under the Amul Green brand. The idea is to procure directly from farmers so that they get better prices for their produce. Amul officials said on an average a turnover of Rs 8 lakh per day was expected at the retail outlet and restaurant.

7191 Tamil Nadu is planning to expand the Chennai Metro Rail project along three corridors and an orbital corridor at an estimated cost of Rs 44,000 crore. The J Jayalaithaa-led government has approved for a Detailed Feasibility Report for the expansion of the Project along three corridors — North West to South East; West to East and an orbital corridor. The report will be ready shortly, said the state government. The state wants to increase the share of public transport, including metro rail, among commuters in Metropolitan Chennai. It may be noted that despite the project being conceived by DMK, the ruling AIADMK has decided to go ahead with the project. It also had plan for monorail, but it has taken off yet. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalaithaa had inaugurated the operations of Chennai Metro Rail in June 2015. The services were originally conceived in 2003. Phase-I of the Chennai Metro Rail Project, which is currently under implementation, covers a total length of 45 kms, portion of which was inaugurated last year.

7190 Pharma major Glenmark is planning to raise around $200 million, of which International Finance Corporation (IFC) is planning to invest upto $75 million. The company plans to raise the money through market issuance of quasi-equity instruments. IFC said that the proposed investment of upto $75 million to be used for expanding manufacturing capacity (primarily in India); building R&D capacity for new products (including in India); and reduce debt so that internal accruals can be deployed to R&D. The company is looking for IFC to be a long term partner, when it is developing new products that will take several years to be commercially launched. IFC is a patient investor who can reduce funding uncertainty in the long term, and avoid frequent trading which can cause volatility in stock price. Having IFC as an anchor investor in this round of fund-raise will also help attract other investors, which is important during a time of volatile markets. The proposed fund raising of $200 million is to support company's expansion of domestic manufacturing of the company and for a "significant" amount in capital expenditure over the next three years across its facilities in India.

"The company will build a power electronics factory on newly acquired land adjacent to a motor factory of TMEIC Industrial Systems India Private Limited," the company said in a statement here. The new factory at Vasanthanarasapura Industrial Area in Yalladadlu village, 90 km from Bengaluru, will produce power electronics products like PV inverters, motor drive inverters and Uninterruptible Power Supplies. Previously, TMEIC invested nearly 65 million dollars in the motor factory, the statement said. Slated to commence operations from the summer of 2017, the new factory will majorly hire locals.

The CHSC scheme is the brainchild of Karnataka Agriculture Minister Krishna Byregowda to help small farmers and to introduce farm mechanisation in the State.

7179 ICICI Bank has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Haryana at the ‘Happening Haryana Global Investors Summit 2016’. Under this agreement, ICICI Bank and its group companies will invest in Haryana over the next three years by way of various credit instruments. 7178 Online classifieds portal Quikr is building its own logistics capabilities which will augment its recently launched doorstep pickup and delivery service. The firm has already built fleet of close to 100 delivery vehicles in Bengaluru, the first city where the service has been launched, which will work in tandem with third-party logistics providers. Doorstep, a service launched by Quikr about six months ago, enables customers to negotiate on price, enables payments, pickup and delivery. The service is aimed at emulating the ease of making a purchase on an online marketplace, but for pre-owned products from consumers and not merchants. "We realised that we need to complete the C2C transaction loop in order to bring convenience to our consumers. A key part of this is to offer a seamless way for consumers to move goods around. It's not an easy problem to solve because, unlike e-commerce, it involves two separate consumer touch-points instead of one," said Pranay Chulet, founder and CEO at Quikr, in a statement.

7177 Apparel manufacturer major Ramraj Cotton is planning to set up a new unit in Bengaluru. Talking to Deccan Herald, Ramraj Cotton Founder and Chairman K R Nagarajan said, “We are scaling up the production of our readymade linen shirts, called Linen Park, from 30,000 pieces per day, to 50,000 pieces. These additional 20,000 pieces will be produced in Bengaluru (near Bommanahalli).” Nagarajan was in the City, to inaugurate the first company-owned and -operated (COCO) showroom in Bengaluru, on Sampige Road.
