The Full Reservoir Level (FRL) & Maximum Water Level (MWL) of the Project have been proposed at EL 2134 m and the Dam Top Elevation is proposed at EL 2137 m. The live storage proposed for the Project is 0.5 MAF and the MDDL has been proposed at EL 2030 m. One Horseshoe shaped Head Race Tunnel (HRT) of length 6.75 km (approx.) & dia 8.5 m, is proposed on right bank of river Marusudar. Through this HRT, the water from the reservoir would be diverted to surface Power House at Lopara. The water from Power House would be discharged back into the Marusudar along its right bank through proposed Tail Race Channel. Two Power Houses have been proposed for Bursar Project, one surface Power House complex of 680MW (4 x 170 MW) capacity near village Lopara on right bank of river Marusudar and another 120 MW (3 x 36 MW + 12 MW) Dam Toe Power House at Being a storage scheme, Bursar Project is strategically important from the perspective of provisions contained in Indus Water Treaty for storage of water over tributaries of river Chenab. According to the Indus water Treaty, storage of 0.6 million acre feet can be provided for power generation across the tributaries of Chenab and an equal capacity across the main Chenab. In addition to this, 0.5 million acre feet of storage for general purpose would also be provided across the tributaries of Chenab which may also be used for any purpose whatsoever, including the generation of electric energy.

The runway efficiency is also getting limited due to backtracking of Aircraft after landing using either Taxiway N4 & N5 or using southern side part Taxi Track involving crossing of runway. In order to reduce the runway occupancy time by Civil Flights, a full length parallel taxi track suitable for B747 type of Aircraft is required to be constructed. AAI and Indian Navy entered into a MOU for the same as AAI and Indian Navy to share the cost of construction 50:50.

7359 The Pancheshwar dam project is a bi-national project, primarily aimed at energy production. In addition, it would enhance the food grains production in both the countries by providing additional irrigation resulting from the augmentation of dry season flows. Due to moderation of flood peaks at reservoir(s), incidental flood control benefits are also envisaged from the project. The Pancheshwar dam site is located near the Pancheshwar temple which is about 2.5 km downstream of the confluence of River Mahakali with the Sarju River. A re-regulating dam is also proposed downstream of the main dam to even out peaking flows released from Pancheshwar power houses for meeting downstream irrigation water requirement. For this purpose, two alternative locations were identified; one at Rupaligad, 27 km downstream of the main dam and another at Purnagiri, 61 km downstream of main dam.
