7125 Osaka (Japan): In a major push to government's make in India initiative, Japanese air conditioner maker - Daikin - plans to invest around Rs 600 crore to establish a research and development (R&D) centre and a manufacturing plant at Neemrana in Rajasthan. While around Rs 100 crore will be spent on the R&D centre, which is slated to be established by July this year, around Rs 500 crore will be used to fund expansion plans over the next one and half years. So far, Daikin has already pumped in around Rs 1100 crore in India.

7124 Nayati Healthcare plans to open a hospital in Amritsar next while the Mathura facility would be a hub for cancer treatment in the region, Radia told PTI. After inaugurating the 351-bed multi super specialty hospital, Tata said: “It is heartening to see a full-fledged specialty hospital being established in Mathura with considerable personal sacrifice, driven by passion and a genuine desire to serve the community.” The hospital would provide “much needed medical help and healthcare facilities for the people of the region”, the Tata Group Chairman Emeritus said. Radia said the hospital is poised to serve not only the population of Western Uttar Pradesh but will be the centre of excellence for the whole of North India. The hospital would aim to reduce the physical, emotional and economic burden of illness that blights the life of ordinary people in tier II and tier III towns by taking treatment to the patients, she added. 7123 Andhra Pradesh on the global map as an emerging education and knowledge hub, India's renowned research-based university Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham (Amrita University) has come forward to set up its Medical University in Amaravati. Amrita University, which currently operates 5 campuses in South India will soon set up a mega university in the state. Alongside the Rs 2,500 crore medical university, a multi-speciality hospital with 2,250 bedding capacity will also be constructed. 7121 Cloud telephony startup Exotel has set up a research division to spur innovation in the voice space. Called Exotel Labs, the division will have a team of researchers specialising in machine learning, data mining and signal processing. "Voice communication is at the core of most businesses in India," said Siddharth Ramesh, CTO at Exotel. "Exotel Labs is our research division, which will focus on an innovative approach to solving problems in the voice space." The lab will comprise three components — tie-ups with leading universities, focused long-term hackathons or events where people solve a given problem by various means, both software and hardware.

7120 Haryana Power Generation Corporation Ltd (HPGCL) is setting up a solar power plant at the site of a defunct thermal power plant in Faridabad. The power generator plans to set up the plant over 151.78 acres near Bata Chowk in the district that generated coal based energy in the past. "The solar plant at Faridabad would be set up on land that was being used ash Dyke," managing director, HPGCL, MKV Ramarao told ET. "The solar plant would ensure efficient use of the ash dykes.

7119 Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd , India's top utility vehicle maker, plans to invest 100 billion rupees ($1.49 billion) over three fiscal years ending March 2018, the company said in an analyst presentation. Mahindra will invest 75 billion rupees of the total in auto, tractor and related businesses, while the remaining will be used for possible acquisitions, the company said in the presentation filed with the Bombay Stock Exchange on Monday.

7118 Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi plans to set up two manufacturing plants in India and launch more devices this year as it ramps up its presence in the world's fastest growing market amid a cooling in its home market. Bin Lin, billionaire co-founder and president at Xiaomi, told ET that he will be spending a lot more time in India, underlining the South Asian nation's importance amid challenges in its biggest market, China. The India plan includes manufacturing of handset peripherals and components.

"The King's College Hospital has agreed to set up a 1,000-bed hospital in Amaravati immediately and make it their headquarters as they plan to set up 11 hospitals in different parts of India.

7116 Tata Steel will spend Rs 2,000 crore to develop the Khondbond mine in Odisha, even as it gears up for an integrated commissioning of its new plant at Kalingangar. Investment in the mine, linked to the company's raw material needs of its greenfield steel plant, will be over and above the Rs 25,000 crore it has spent on the plant, Rajiv Kumar, vice-president (operations-KPO) Kalinganagar Operations, told reporters recently.

7115 Bhushan Steel Ltd (BSL) has received the environment clearance for its Rs 3,000 crore project to set up a pellet unit with a production capacity of 7 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) in Odisha. BSL operates a 5.6 MTPA integrated steel plant in Dhenkanal, Odisha. There is a scarcity of lump iron ore in the market and only iron ore fines are available, which need suitable beneficiation and pelletisation before they can be used as feed stock. Therefore, the company has proposed to set up a pellet unit in Dhenkanal.

7114 Reliance Industries' wholly-owned arm Model Economic Township Ltd will develop an electronics manufacturing hub and footwear park at Jhajjar, Haryana with an investment of Rs 1,300 crore. Model Economic Township Ltd, formerly known as Reliance Haryana SEZ Ltd, also expects that the electronic hub and footwear park would attract a further investments of Rs 2,600 crore from units to be established inside it while generating about 20,000 employment opportunities. The firm has signed two MOUs (memorandum of understanding) with the Haryana government at the Happening Haryana global investors summit to develop 450-acre electronic manufacturing clusters and 500-acres footwear park.

7113 Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has commissioned the second 500 MW thermal unit at Anpara-D Thermal Power Plant (TPP) in Sonbhadra district of Uttar Pradesh. With this, BHEL has added 2,320 MW of generating capacity in Uttar Pradesh in the current fiscal (2015-16). Significantly, this is a first of its kind project, where the power plant has been set up on an abandoned ash pond, thereby enabling saving of scarce land. Setting up the power plant on an ash pond required special technological innovations in the area of civil engineering. Successful execution of this project has set an alternate option for future projects facing constraints of scarcity of land. BHEL was entrusted with the contract for setting up 2 units of 500 MW each at Anpara-D TPP by Uttar Pradesh Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (UPRVUNL). The first 500 MW unit of the project was commissioned earlier by BHEL in June, 2015.

7112 Omax Auto, the auto parts and equipment maker, plans to expand capacity with an investment of Rs 17.21 crore. To cater to the customers in North India, the company will set up a new manufacturing unit at a location at or around Gurgaon with an investment of Rs 2.71 crores. The unit, which will have capacity of 1200 frames per day, is expected to be operational by August 2016. For expansion purpose, Omax will shift the unit at Pant Nagar, Uttarakhand to another location with more space, within or around same locality. With this move, which will cost the company about Rs 2.5 crores, Omax Auto is aiming to increase the capacity of the plant from 12,000 units per day to 20,000-22,000 units per day.

7111 With the premium and luxury biking segment steering on the growth path, Swiss bicycle maker Scott SA is pushing the pedal in the Indian market. Besides setting up technology centres, the company is evaluating the possibility of putting an assembly line in India. Scott Sports India said it will set up at least five technology centres for cyclist and cycling enthusiasts over the next 12 months. “Superior technology products, services and the overall experience are what Scott Technology Centre India will offer. 7110 US-headquartered health and fitness chain Snap Fitness, which entered the Indian market in 2008 with a centre in Bengaluru, is looking to expand its India footprint to 300 centres in three years. Snap Fitness, which claims to be among the first to offer 24/7 access to members, along with nutrition and diet counselling, currently operates 60 fitness centres across 11 cities nationwide. It has centres in three formats — 3,000 sq ft, 4,000 sq ft and 5,000 sq ft, and has a user base of 60,000 members.

7109 The Beekay Steel Industries Limited here on Sunday announced the launch of its product, the Beekay turbo TMT steel bar, manufactured at its Parawada plant in Visakhapatnam district. At a function here on Sunday, Mukesh Bansal, the Managing Director, and Vikas Bansal, the Executive Director, said the group had set up seven structural steel plants in and around Visakhapatnam district, sourcing the raw material (steel billets and blooms) from the Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited - Visakhapatnam steel plant. They said the mill at Bonangi village in Parawada mandal, with a manufacturing capacity of 2.5 lakh tonnes turbo TMT steel bars per annum, was in fact commissioned a year ago but it was being formally announced on Sunday and the product was being released into the market. The capacity of the other six plants in the district amounted to roughly 5 lakh tonnes per annum.

7108 Wind turbine maker Suzlon Energy Ltd is planning to invest Rs.1,200 crore to set up 3,000 megawatt (MW) power generation units of solar, wind and hybrid sources, said the Telangana government on Wednesday. K.T. Rama Rao, information technology, panchayat raj and municipal administration and urban development minister, who was in Mumbai, met Tulsi Tanti, chairman and managing director of Suzlon and invited the group to invest in Telangana. Rao assured the Suzlon group of all support from the Telangana government. Suzlon in January made its foray into the solar sector winning 210 MW projects from the Telangana government through a competitive bidding process.

7107 Ford Motor Pvt Ltd has got the government’s green signal to set up a global technology and business centre in an IT/ITES Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Tamil Nadu which will include a research and development unit and a latest product testing centre. The Centre has given permission to the company to be a co-developer in the IT/ITES SEZ being developed by the Electronics Corporation of Tamil Nadu Ltd, a wholly-owned government of Tamil Nadu undertaking, at Sholinganallur near Chennai, where the proposed centre will come up. “The company’s intention to set up a technology and business centre is in line with its expansion plans in India. It seeks to provide global business services in the areas of IT, product engineering, finance and accounting, data analytics and manufacture at the technology and business centre to be developed.

7106 Pune-based Avinash Bhosale Group (ABIL) has announced a new residential project in Mumbai, in partnership with Italian fashion brand Versace Home. ABIL Mansion is set to come up on Hughes Road. The house’s artistic director, Donatella Versace, will add her creative touch to the interior design of the residences, creating bespoke interiors which will match traditional craftsmanship with the innovative design of Versace today, ABIL said. The 10 units will be spaciously laid out with four or five bedrooms each, spread over 8,000 sq ft or more. Comprising nine ultra-exclusive duplexes and one simplex, the 32-storey skyscraper will consist of one apartment every other floor. The project is expected to be completed by 2019. 7105 Reliance Defence Ltd, a subsidiary of Reliance Infrastructure Ltd, has received approval for 12 industrial licences from the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP) to make defence equipment. In a media statement, the company said DIPP has given licences to the Strategic Business Units under Reliance Defence, which will address the defence requirements in India and overseas markets. With licences in hand for the manufacture of military aircraft and helicopters, the company is looking to bag Rs.9,000-crore orders from the Navy for amphibious aircraft. It will also look at making light utility helicopters under a Rs.20,000-crore order. There is also a requirement for 160-200 medium to heavy helicopter, which is a Rs.50,000-crore opportunity. The transport and the combat aircraft requirements of the Air Force in the next 10 years will be in excess of Rs.60,000 crore, the statement. In land systems, Reliance has got licences to make missiles and all-terrain combat vehicles. The key programmes in these segments include short, medium and long range missile systems, which will cost Rs.50,000 crore. The Army will also spend an additional Rs.50,000 crore over 10-15 years on different types of combat vehicles.

7104 Telangana University Registrar R. Limbadri laid the foundation for the bio-gas generation plant on campus on Monday. Speaking on the occasion, the Registrar said that this was the first project (kitchen waste biogas plant) in the district. As much as 70 kg of bio-waste is generated in the hostels every day and with that if biogas is to be produced it would be enough for three hour cooking. 7103 Consumer electrical products maker Havells India Ltd plans to set up a new manufacturing unit on the outskirts of Bengaluru at a cost of Rs.1,059 crore, chairman Anil Rai Gupta said. Delhi-based Havells has 11 plants across seven locations, and its proposed plant on a 50-acre plot near Bengaluru would be its first outside north India. The plan comes at a time when consumer electrical companies are moving towards “smart products,” fusing advanced electronics into conventional appliances.

7102 Swedish specialty chemicals firm Perstorp is planning to set up a manufacturing facility for pentaerythritol (penta) in Maharashtra. To evaluate the opportunity to invest in a new world scale production plant for penta in India, the company has signed an MoU with Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC). Pentaerythritol, a white crystalline polyhydric alcohol containing four primary hydroxyl groups, is used as building blocks in alkyd resins for coatings, radiation curing monomers, polyurethanes, rosin esters, synthetic lubricants and explosives. 7101 Two bottling partners of the US-based beverage maker Coca-Cola Co.—Kandhari Beverages Pvt. Ltd. and Enrich Agro Food Products Pvt. Ltd—will together invest Rs.510 crore in Haryana to expand manufacturing capacity. The two companies signed pacts with the state government to this effect on the second day of the Happening Haryana Global Investors Summit on Tuesday. The proposed investment is expected to create 325 new jobs, the companies said in a joint statement. Kandhari Beverages will invest Rs.300 crore to set up multiple high-speed manufacturing lines for juice, energy and sparkling drinks at Saha in Ambala by 2018. Enrich Agro Food Products will invest Rs.165 crore to set up a new manufacturing line for beverages in Rohtak by 2018 and the remaining Rs.45 crore will be spent on a packaging unit for Coca-Cola system.

7100 Embassy Industrial Parks today announced an investment of Rs 1,910 crore in Haryana for the development of three industrial parks. Embassy Industrial Parks, a joint venture between realty firm Embassy and Warburg Pincus, signed an MoU with Haryana government for the development of three industrial parks around Gurgaon "with a projected investment of Rs 1,910 crore and an employment potential of 4,000 people". The MoU was signed at the Happening Haryana Global Investors Summit.

7099 Swedish furniture retailing giant IKEA on Tuesday signed a memorandum of understanding with Haryana government and said it will invest an estimated Rs 2,000 crore to open its stores in the state. "IKEA India today inked a memorandum of understanding (MoUs) with the state of Haryana as a major step forward towards establishing retail stores in the state. IKEA will invest an estimated Rs 2,000 crore for its retail expansion in Haryana, will employ about 1,000 co-workers directly and engage around 3,000 more for providing services such as furniture assembly, delivery services among others," the company said in a statement. "Haryana is a prioritised state for IKEA due to its open investment climate...IKEA will set up retail stores to bring high quality, functional home furnishings with affordability and design for the many people," IKEA India CEO Juvencio Maeztu said. IKEA said it sees India as an important future market and is evaluating different sites in the prioritised states of Delhi-NCR, Bangalore, Mumbai and Hyderabad.

7098 Domestic handset maker Lava plans to set up a research and development centre in Hyderabad and the talks with Telangana government are in advanced stage, a senior company official said today. "We have already submitted an application to Telangana government for setting up an R&D centre and discussions are at an advanced level. Once it gets okayed from the state, we will start a R&D centre in Hyderabad. The plan is to have 200 people at the proposed centre," Sandeep Dongre, Vice President and Business Unit Head South, told reporters here. The company already has a R&D facility in Bengaluru with more than 400 employees. "We have decided to invest Rs 200 crore in R&D over the next three years

7097 Watch maker Titan Co. Ltd has invested Rs.40 crore to locally manufacture eyewear frames to cut its dependence on Chinese imports, said a top executive at the company’s eye-wear division. With local manufacturing and design, the company hopes to reduce time taken to launch new products and gain from savings on import duties. “Everyone imports the same frames from China and they all end up looking the same,” said Ronnie Talati, chief executive officer of the company’s nine-year-old eye wear division Titan Eyeplus that registered a revenue of Rs.361 crore for the year ended 31 March 2015. The facility in Chikkaballapur, Karnataka, will be operational by August.

7096 Xiaomi Technology India Pvt. Ltd, the local unit of China’s biggest mobile phone maker, said on Thursday that the company is ramping up its manufacturing plans rapidly and that 75% of the phones it sells in India are already being made locally. In August, Xiaomi together with Taiwanese contract manufacturer Foxconn Technology Group started assembling phones locally in Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh. “We are ramping up our manufacturing in India for our latest product Redmi Note 3 and this is our fourth ‘made in India’ product,” said Hugo Barra, vice-president Xiaomi.

7093 Balmer Lawrie & Co Ltd has planned around Rs.400 crore capital expenditure in the next two to three years in its logistics business vertical. Prabal Basu, CMD, told reporters after its AGM here that the proposed multi-modal logistic hub at Visakhapatnam would see an investment of around Rs.220 crore and Rs.165 crore for setting up seven temperature-controlled warehouses across the country. Construction work for the logistics hub has begun in July and is expected to be ready by next July. The hub, which is being set up through a 60:40 joint venture with the Visakhapatnam Port Trust, will have a container freight station, warehouses including cold storages and railway sidings. VPT has provided 53.02 acres on lease as its equity in the joint venture – Visakhapatnam Port Logistics Park Ltd. Balmer Lawrie will make cash investment and manage the project.

7092 State-run oil marketing company (OMC) Hindustan Petroleum Corp Ltd (HPCL) plans to invest Rs 45,000 crore by 2020 in capacity expansion of its Mumbai and Visakhapatnam refineries, along with augmenting of its marketing infrastructure. While Rs 21,000 crore would be invested in increasing refining capacity, Rs 9,000 crore would be spent in marketing infrastructure, till 2020, the company said in an investor presentation over the weekend, as communicated to the stock exchange. A total of Rs 14,000 crore would go into joint venture refinery projects, natural gas business and upstream oil exploration, The oil marketer will invest Rs 4,199 crore in expanding its Mumbai refinery capacity to 9.5 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) from the existing 6.5 MTPA, and another Rs 17,000 crore in expanding its Visakhaptnam refinery to 15 MTPA capacity, from the current 8.

7091 Ashoka University has set up the Ashok Trivedi Centre for Political Data in partnership with the University of Michigan. The centre is named after the co-founder of IT services company iGate who has committed Rs 15 crore to the initiative at the Sonepat-based private university. Trivedi said such a centre is needed for democracy to function properly and it will fill a critical gap in India.

7090 Mortgage lender Indiabulls Housing Finance and its group company, Indiabulls Real Estate will invest Rs 25,000 crore in Haryana over the next seven years. The group has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with the government of Haryana for the same, the company said in a statement. Indiabulls Group, whose founder, Sameer Gehlaut has origins in Haryana, is headquartered in Gurgaon, and has pan India operations with offices in 200 locations across the country. 7088 Two mega port projects entailing an initial investment of about Rs 15,000 crore are likely to get the Cabinet's approval this week. The ports are proposed to be built in Colachel in Tamil Nadu and Dahanu in Maharashtra under the public-private partnership or PPP model. "These two projects are likely to get Cabinet clearance this week. Two more major port proposals, one in Sagar in Maharashtra and another in Andhra Pradesh, will be sent for the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs' clearance next month," a senior shipping ministry official said.

7087 Ajanta Pharma has received final approval for its generic version of acute migraine pain relief drug almotriptan malate tablets from the US health regulator. The approval by the US Food and Drug Administration (USFDA) is for multiple strengths of 6.25mg and 12.5mg of the generic version of Janssen Pharmaceuticals’ Axert tablets, Ajanta Pharma said in a BSE filing. 7085 Maharashtra is making a strong comeback in the automobile sector after losing out to Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu in recent years, with companies promising fresh investments worth billions of dollars in the western state over the next five to seven years. US automobile giant General Motors has committed to invest $1 billion (Rs 6,770 crore) in new facilities. The Maharashtra government has signed memoranda of understanding with companies such as Mahindra & Mahindra, Mercedes-Benz and Fiat Chrysler, which are expected to bring in $2.5 billion to the state, including from component manufactures. The planned investments are estimated to generate direct employment to 15,000 to 17,000. Two to three times more people are expected to get indirect jobs.

7083 Five years after it acquired a land parcel at Byculla in Mumbai from Mafatlal Industries, Piramal Realty said it will be using the land for launching a residential project with an estimated investment of Rs.4,300 crore. 7081 Subramanya Construction & Development Co Ltd (SCDCL), a Bengaluru-based realtor, will set up a luxury resort in Maldives. The Oberoi Group would manage the resort. Both the companies have signed an MoU with the Government of Maldives to build the resort, Oberoi Group said. In a statement, Oberoi Group said the investment for acquisition and development of the resort would be undertaken by SCDCL. 7080 Three new bridges on Sardar Patel Ring Road will be built to ease traffic woes. Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority, on Monday, earmarked Rs 150 crore for the three bridges, including a flyover at the extremely busy Vaishnodevi Circle. As part of the Rs 476.76 crore budget sanctioned for 2016-17, AUDA has also announced the creation of a 'Make in India Cell' for speedy approval for industrial units. AUDA chairman Bhupendra Patel said: "We have tried to make sure that the budget addresses development of infrastructure, industries and villages. We have proposed three bridges on SP ring road. Out of these three bridges, two will be built at Sanathal and Ranasan railway crossings." AUDA has also decided to set up a Make in India cell.

7078 The Malabar group, which owns the Malabar Gold & Diamonds franchise, is launching a Rs. 2,000-crore Malabar Integrated Township at Thrissur. IT and Industries Minister PK Kunhalikkutty laid the foundation stone for the project recently. It provides for an IT hub, a commercial business cluster, a large convention facility, residential apartments, shopping mall, and an entertainment centre spread over five million sq ft and will create 50,000 jobs, Malabar group Chairman MP Ahammed said.

7077 To strengthen the aviation sector in Gujarat, the state government has planned to set up the country's first-ever Aviation Park having a slew of facilities including an airstrip, training school, helipad and space for setting up small manufacturing units among others. According to officials of government-owned Gujarat State Aviation Infrastructure Company Ltd (GUJSAIL), this integrated park aims to raise the awareness about the potential of the aviation sector among students, professionals, policy makers and business entities. GUJSAIL, which is given the task by the government to carry out the project, has recently identified a piece of land near Bagodara village, about 30 kms from Ahmedabad. According to GUJSAIL CEO Captain Ajay Chauhan, the main aim of this Aviation Park is to raise awareness about the aviation sector among investors, students and people at large. It will also provide a platform for manufacturing activities and human resources related to the sector,
