| 14 | Industrial epoxy flooring of shop floor with the following steps, layers, & specifications:(i) Surface preparation: Removing of existing old oily coatings/ uneven particles from concrete floor by using scarifying machines, sanders, scrubbing machines, wire brushes and other mechanical tools. Oil contaminated areas/ oil soaked areas must be de-greased with the help of specialized burning machine till the floor becomes bright white. After burning the floor, all the dust, dirt, & loose particles are to be removed and then it should be washed thoroughly by solvent cleaning/ detergent washing & acid cleaning and finally healthy wash to be given with water. Making the entire area dry with the help of high capacity vacuum cleaner & hot air blower. Levelling the surface with grinding machine. This process must be repeated upto satisfaction of the site/ engineer-in-charge to ensure permissible limit of moisture & oil content.(ii) Repairing of pot holes/ cracks: As per the existing floor, the pot holes & expansion joints are to be filled with the suitable material. The pot holes are to be filled & levelled with pot hole filling compound having ration of 2:1:8 (resin : hardener : aggregate). This is epoxy based material having compressive strength of 935 kg/sqcm and hardness of 85 shore D with working temperature of 30°C minimum. 2 kg required for 1 sqm.(iii) Application of concrete primer: Concrete primer is to be applied to the surface by means of roller/ manually for thickness of 200 microns. Primer should give good medium of bonding to the sub-strata. Primer coat should be allowed to get tack free before application of heavy duty industrial screed. Mixing ratio of primer is 2:1.(iv) Application of heavy duty industrial screed: After confirming that the primer coat has become tack free, application of epoxy screed material is to be started on the floor. The ratio to be 2:1:12 (resin : hardener : aggregate). This should be epoxy based material having compressive strength of 775-875 kg/sqcm & hardness of 85 shore D with working temperature of 30°C minimum. The mixed material is to be applied by means of trowel & spatula as per the specification & then it is to be levelled by using the mechanical floater to get good strength & proper surface finish. This procedure is very important to get the desired properties. The screed is to be kept for curing up to 4-5 hours to get workable strength for next procedure. Total thickness of 7 mm to be achieved.(v) Intermediate coat: The top coat material with some solid additives has to be applied on the cured clean surface of heavy duty industrial screed. Intermediate coat mix proportion to be 2:1:5 (resin : hardener : powder). This method should make the surface free of pinholes and other irregularities like waviness & pin holes etc.(vi) Application of top coat with self levelling compound: Once the floor is ready with screeding & intermediate coat after getting complete cure, dust/ dirt has to be removed from the surface. Once it is ensured that the surface is ready to apply the top coat, the material has to be mixed in the proper proportion & is to be applied properly. The levelling is to be done by spike roller of self levelling compound. During application, movement should be restricted and foreign particle accumulation to be avoided. Once the application is over, it should be kept for 24 hrs for functional cure depending upon the ambient temperature. Flexural strength to be 27.0 MPa. This should give a monolithic seamless floor. It should not allow soaking of oil, water, minerals, any type of liquids, fungal or bacterial growth. Self levelling compound can be applied from 1 mm to 1.2 mm thickness. The floor is to be allowed for 24 hour functional cure. |
