Supplying And Applying Vermiculite Cementitious Fire Proof Coating On Structural Steel On Sub-Contract Basis” In Connection With 1.0 FIRE PROOFING OF STRUCTURAL 2.0 Fireproofing with Vermiculite: VERMICULITE CEMENTITIOUS FIRE PROOF COATING ON STRUCTURAL STEEL(minimum thickness of 38 mm depending on steel section size as stipulated in standard drawings(attached in bidding document) at any level/height. The steel surfaces to be fire proofed shall be blasted and applied Primer Coating and Protective coating as per the specifications(Payment for blasting, supply & application of Primer and Protective Paint shall be made separately on “MT” basis under the Str.Steel Items).Vermiculite cementitious coating like Fendoloite/Pyrocrete or equivalent shall be used. Materials, equipment and method of application shall be in accordance with IS-9012 and IS-6433.The Fireproof coating shall be done only by skilled operators as approved by Engineer-in-charge. - - 5.0 Fireproofing with Concrete: Encasing of structural steel members with M-20 concrete at any level/height (minimum thickness of Encasing :65 mm):Supply and fixing of hard drawn steel wire fabric of 2.5mm dia of 50x50mm mesh conforming to IS-1566 on structural steel member and to be secured by 18 SWG galvanized tie wire to studs or nuts, supplying and welding of suitable size on the structural steel member, supply & fixing of Spacers (shall be 5 mm thick) with nuts of M16 bolts, ensuring clearance of not less than 20mm from the face of the member, ensuring lapping of at least 75mm for the mesh and tying securely together, supplying, mixing, transporting, placing, vibrating and consolidating concrete in the prefabricated and pre fixed formwork moulds up to the specified level, suitable shielding of all important frames/Electrical/Instrumentation accessories /opening prior to the concreting works as per the drawings and as directed by Engineer In charge. An uniform appearance of surfaces shall be ensured for 7 days and all defects such as hony combing ,bulging,damage to edges shall be rectified by Contractor at his own cost.02 coats of Polyurethane paint (shade as approved by EIC) shall be provided over the encasing for a minimum total thickness of 50 Microns(DFT).The job shall also include cleaning (including with wire brush if required) the surface to be encased clear of all dirt/rust/foreign materials etc. covering/protecting all the nearby pipes/equipment etc from spatter/falling material with tarpaulin or GI sheets or other suitable shielding materials, arranging all tools tackles, scaffolding arrangements, compliance of safety requirements, poker vibrators or form vibrators, curing compounds, tools and tackles etc. all complete. The steel surfaces to be encased shall be blasted and provided with primer and protective painting layer and the finishing coat of PU paint shall not be applied (Payment towards blasting, primer coat and Protective layer shall be made separately on “MT” basis under the Structural Steel Items). Materials, Equipment and method of application of concrete for encasing shall be inaccordance with IS:456. Compressive strength of concrete mix should be >=30N/mm2 in 28 days. All outside edges of fireproofing shall be chamfered/rounded off by 20mm.The junction between fireproofing and bare steel shall be sealed against ingress of water, minimum 10mm thick bituminous mastic flashing. Each face shall be checked for thickness every 4 m and atleast one per member. 7.0 HARD DRAWN WIRE FABRIC REINFORCEMENT: Supplying and placing in position hard drawn wire fabric of 3mm dia 50x50 Mesh @ 2.22 kg/SQM as per IS: 1566 to be used as reinforcement for fire proofing, including straightening, cleaning, cutting, bending, binding different portions with contractors own 16 SWG black soft annealed wire, welding with spacer plates or lugs (to be supplied by the contractor at his own cost) in skirts/ on surface of structural steel members etc. complete, including cleaning of the surface and all labour and as per drawings/ sketches, specifications and directions of the Engineer-in-Charge.
