The vertical bisector of the notch shall be equi- distance from the two walls of the channel. The crest of the notch shall be horizontal, plate which shall from a sharp edge at its intersection with the upstream face of plate. The width of the crest, measured perpendicular to the face of the plate .The width of the crest, measured perpendicular to the face of the plate between 1mm and 2mm, filed to a angle of 45 degree with horizontal (as per the sketch enclosed with above mentioned circular) The side surface shall be vertical, plane surfaces which shall make sharp edge at this intersection with the upstream face of the weir plate. Fixing and installation of the “V” notch has to be done in conformity to the guidelines furnished in the above circular of Chief Engineer, WRO,PWD, DR&CS, Chennai and as directed by the departmental officers.
