establishment of kitchen waste digester at household level in thalakkad grama panchayath supply of kitchen waste digester , specification and size , * two number of ultraviolet stabilized lldpe bins of 120 litre capacity. * two airtight lids are provided in each bin, one to dump waste & the other to collect manure/compost. * top side is provided with a ventilation hole which is filtered by a stainless steel screen to avoid flies. behind the ventilation hole, there is an activated carbon impregnated farm to avoid bad odour at the initial stage of digestion process before microbes start working. * at the centre of each bin there is a thin hollow pipe half the way, vertically, this pipe passes the leachate tothe soil from the middle portion of the bin. * at the bottom of each bin there are five drain holes of two inch diameter to drain leachate into soil beneath. * microbes enriched inoculums of 2 kg are provided. infrastructure and requirments * required soil ground of 60 cms width & 120 cms length to install two digester bins. * two numbers of lldpe bins of 120 litres each with lids. * bins are of octagonal shape narrowing with top vertically, bottom diameter of 55 cms and upper diameter of 30 cms overall height of each bin is 83 cms. * each bins have thickness of 5 mm of ultraviolet stabilized lldpe material. * lid with diameter of 15 cms, both for dumping waste and for manure collection. * centre of each bin contains a hollow pipe of 5 cms diameter and 40 cms height. * 3 ventilation holes of diameter 2 cms, are provided the top rear side. * activated carbon impregnated foam of 5 cms x 5 cms x 2.5 cms are fixed at the top behind the ventilation holes. * 3 cms x 8 cms size stainless steel mesh protects the ventilation hole from flies.
