The Tamil Nadu Generation & Distribution Corporation Limited (TANGEDCO) has in plan to proposed unit is similar to the 1x660MW ETPS expansion coal based thermal power plant for which prior clearance is already obtained. The super critical technology has adopted for the proposed power plant also in order to enhance the plant efficiency and other benefits such as reduced green house emissions, environmental friendly/CDM benefits, operation flexibility to grid fluctuations, shorter start-up times, reduced O&M cost and reduced coal consumption.
