The agricultural lands that come near the 13 schemes in Raigad have been damaged due to the increased salinity caused by creek/sub-creek water ingress as well as mangrove encroachment into the fields. In accordance to this, the Kharland Development Schemes are envisaged to restrict tidal waters to enter the agricultural lands along the creek or sub creeks. The flood water is allowed to flow through the cross drainage works towards creek/sub creek without disturbing the natural course of flow. Rapid environmental assessment will determine the current status of the environment and identify impact of critical activities on environmental parameters.
