Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation (TANGEDCO)
The Centre's green panel has given clearance to Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation (TANGEDCO) for setting up of a 2x800 MW thermal power plant in Ramanathapuram district, entailing an investment of Rs 12,664 crore.
An Expert Appraisal Committee (EAC) under Union Environment Ministry discussed TANGEDCO's proposal in its recent meeting and recommended grant of coastal regulation zone ( CRZ) clearance subject to some conditions.
The ministry will soon take a final view on the proposal.
As per the proposal, TANGEDCO will establish a 2x800 MW capacity of imported coal based thermal power plant with super critical technology at Uppur, Valamavoor and Thiruppalaikudi villages in Ramanathapuram district.
