Essel Infraprojects has commissioned a Rs 100 crore waste-to-energy plant in Tamil Nadu.
The power plant, which will use municipal solid waste as fuel, has been designed and built by Essel Infrastructure, which will also operate and maintain the plant for 20 years. The Essel Pallavapuram and Tambaram MSW Pvt Ltd, subsidiary of Essel, has set up the 2.9-MW power plant that will use refuse derived fuel obtained from about 300 tonnes of waste to make Pallavaram and Tambaram, two large suburbs to the south of Chennai. The project is a contract awarded by Pallavaram Municipality in Public-Private Partnership mode.
Essel tied up with Rochem India for technology to produce high quality Refuse Derived Fuel and Compost.
Essel Infra has MSW projects at Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh), Bengaluru (Karnataka), Bhubaneswar and Cuttack (Odisha), Surat (Gujarat), Amritsar (Punjab) and Ranchi (Jharkhand).
