Listed Rama Steel Tubes Ltd (RSTL) has said it would increase the capacity of its plant at Khapoli in Raigad district of Maharashtra.
In a filing to the stock exchanges, it announced that the plant would increase its capacity to manufacture mild steel tubes and hollow sections from 36,000 tonnes per annum to 72,000 tonnes per annum.
In June it had commissioned the Khapoli plant at a cost of around Rs. 7.5 crore including a 20-acre land parcel. The expansion at a cost of Rs. 4.5 crore is expected to be complete by next April, Naresh Bansal, Managing Director, told BusinessLine. The cost of the Khapoli plant and its proposed expansion is being funded by internal accruals, he said. It has two other manufacturing plants at Shahibabad in Uttar Pradesh with a total capacity of 1 lakh tonne a year.
For the Rs. 195-crore company, falling steel prices have improved the prospects for better margins and greater exports. “New products for the infrastructure industry are likely to add to the profitability,”
