The first 500-MW unit of coal-based NTPL thermal power plant of NLC Tamil Nadu Power (NTPL) in Tuticorin has qualified for commercial operations. NTPL a joint venture company of NLC and Tangedco, is establishing a 1,000-mw (2 units of 500 mw) coal-based thermal power plant at Tuticorin, The pre-commissioning activities in Unit II of this plant are nearing completion and this unit will also be ready this month.
