Government of Andhra pardesh has released Rs 488 crore for works of the Kuppam branch canal of the Handri-Neeva Sujala Sravanthi project in the district. a government order was issued . works of branch canal would commence from Appanapalle village near Punganur branch canal. The Kuppam canal envisaged supply of drinking water to 4.02 lakh people, besides consolidation of irrigation water source for about 7,000 through linkage of 110 village tanks. the second phase of Handri-Neeva project in Chittoor district is set to provide irrigation waters to 1.82 lakh acres,
