Japanese sportswear major ASICS is going solo and setting up stores in India in the next five years. The company plans to start with five stores in the first year, with first one expected to be operational in July. The stores will be located in the major metros. Since ASICS products are imported and the company does not source parts locally, it cannot open company-owned stores in India and all its outlets would be franchise stores.
