The Ongole Municipal Corporation has prepared a detailed project report for drawing 1.6 tmcft of water from Gundalakamma reservoir and strengthening the distribution network involving a cost of Rs. 413 crore. The project envisages setting up of 17 Elevated Level Service Reservoirs (ELSRs) and two filtration plants too. Water connections would be provided to the 5 per cent of the households on the city outskirts, thereby making Ongole tanker-free by March next year.
