The Telangana government has decided to set up a 7,600 mega watt (MW) thermal power station at Peerlapalem and Dilavarpur in Damarcherla mandal of Nalgonda district. The station will be set up jointly by Telangana Genco and NTPUC. The Telangana Genco would generate 6,000 MW in the coming years and four units, with a total capacity of 1,080 MW, would be set up at Ramanajulapally near Manuguru in Khammam district. These thermal plants, to be constructed by Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited, are expected to become operational in the next two years. Another 5,200 MW would be generated by power units that would be set up by Genco at Damarcherla.
