The India Cements Limited
India Cements plans to refurbish and expand capacity of its cement plant in Salem in Tamil Nadu at a cost of Rs.80 crore.
The old cement plant is being replaced with new equipment and in the process the output will increase to about 17 lakh tonnes from the present six lakh tonnes. The company has sought environmental clearance and once these are in place the project will be take off, according to reliable sources.
It will optimise the existing kiln and add a new line. The total power requirement for the expanded capacity will be about 28 MW, including about 13 MW for the new line.
This will be sourced from group captive sources or from the grid.
