The Haryana government plans to set up a gas-based power plant in Faridabad and a coal-based supercritical unit in Yamuna Nagar district.
The project is expected to be commissioned during the 13th five year plan (2017 onwards) after allocation of the required quantity of gas.
It has also been decided to set up a 660 MW unit, based on supercritical technology, at Panipat in place of existing four units of 110 MW each.
The Haryana Power Generation Corporation Ltd (HPGCL) has purchased 91 acres of land for setting up of the 2X750 MW gas-based plant in village Mothuka/Arwa in district Faridabad, state Power Minister Capt. Ajay Singh Yadav said here today.
He said the issue of providing coal linkage for setting up a 660 MW supercritical unit at Yamuna Nagar is being expedited.
