Accor Hotels India
Accor, France-based hospitality chain, is seeking to double its presence in India over the next two years.
The company is planning to open another 25 hotels in India by the end of 2015, bringing the total number of hotels in its portfolio to 50.
Through this expansion, Accor expects to increase its headcount in the region from around 5000 staff to 15000 over the next three-four years.
Accor chairman and CEO Sebastien Bazin said that he is seeking to expand the company's MGallery brand in India in the next three years.
Till date, Accor has launched only seven brands in India. Currently, it has 14 brands and operates 3700 hotels in 93 countries globally.
Accor, which entered India in 2006 with the launch of Novotel in Hyderabad, now operates 25 hotels in the country serving the spectrum-budget and luxury segment across six brands.
Accor chairman and CEO Sebastien Bazin said: "We are expanding very fast on Novotel and Ibis brands. Ibis is growing fast because the segment is responding best to the emerging middle class in India and corporate local demand within India.
"Depending on the segment, we will continue to invest in India. Accor is investing the most in the economy and budget segment and in large capacity mid-scale hotels, and investing very little in the luxury and upscale segments," he added.
