Global hospitality player Starwood Hotels & Resorts is planning to bring its luxury brands St Regis and W Hotels to India shortly to meet the expanding demand of the Indian market. With this, Starwood will have eight out of its nine brands in India.
“We are also looking at bringing our luxury brands St Regis and W Hotels to India soon with one St Regis and four W Hotels currently under development. With this, Starwood will soon have eight of its nine brands in India,” Dilip Puri, managing director India and regional vice president, South Asia, Starwood Asia Pacific Hotels & Resorts told Financial Chronicle.
The company currently operates 38 properties under six of its nine brands with a total room count of over 8,500 keys. It has around 6,000 more rooms under its pipeline with a total of 35 hotels under development. The company also believes that the Indian market will emerge as the third largest market in the next couple of years.
“India is Starwood’s fourth largest market and will soon be the third. We have a strong and fast growing footprint and a robust pipeline. Today we operate 38 hotels in India under six of our nine brands and have 35 under development. This amounts to over 8,500 rooms under operation and more than 6, 000 in the pipeline,” said Puri.
