Alstom T & D India Ltd. and Alstom Grid UK Ltd. recently secured a 22.75 million euros or Rs.182 crore contract from Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (PGCIL) to supply and refurbish high voltage direct current (HVDC) converter transformers.
These transformers will strengthen the 1000 MW HVDC station at Bhadrawati in Maharashtra, India, which interconnects and moves surplus power from West India to South India.
The turnkey contract includes designing, engineering, manufacturing, refurbishing, erection and commissioning of HVDC converter transformers (234 MVA, 400kV).
The company said that these transformers would be manufactured in Alstom's facilities in Vadodara, India and in Stafford in UK.
