Switzerland-based beverages major Capri-Sun has entered Indian market through a joint venture project with SDU Beverages, Hyderabad to produce and market its fruit juices for kids.
Considered to be the number one kids beverage brand, Capri-Sun will now market four delicious flavours—mango, orange, apple, mixed fruit in India. These drinks come in pouches and have a shelf life of nine months.
The $2-billion plus revenue company Capri-Sun is placing its trust in its Indian production and marketing partner SDU Beverages. The later has experience in marketing beverages brands like Kingfisher Water, Kingfisher Soda and RC Cola.
SDU Beverages has set up a manufacturing unit near Hyderabad with an investment of Rs 45-50 crore with an annual capacity of two million cases. After focusing on sales within the country, it plans to export it to other markets in the region. In the first phase, these drinks will be launched in top nine Indian cities and also be made available through retail chains.
CarstenKaisig, CEO of Capri-Sun, said, “With our licence partner, we have the opportunity to spread the fun and great taste of our product in the Indian market in which nearly one-third of the population are children under 15 years of age. “We are sure both kids and mums will love Capri-Sun, which represents highest quality over past 40 years.”
