CM Nitish Kumar on Tuesday laid the foundation of Rs 391.48-crore, 1.7km-long project for the construction of flyover, underpass and elevated path from Lalit Bhavan to Boring Road turning on Baily Road. Scheduled to be completed in two years, the project is expected to ease traffic movement on this stretch. An MoU has been signed with the Foundation for Innovative Technology Transfer, an offshoot of IIT, Delhi. Speaking on this occasion, the CM said new and unique techniques are being adopted for this innovative project. Due to existing constructions, some roads cannot be widened further, he said, adding after the upcoming international museum is opened on March 22, 2015, the traffic flow will further increase. RCD secretary Pratyaya Amrit promised that part of the project facing the international museum will be completed by April 2015 and the rest in two years. For this project, to be executed by the Bihar Rajya Pul Nirman Nigam (BRPNN), solutions like swap-based traffic interchange (SBTI) and grade-separated U-turn interchange (GSUI) are among the techniques being used. Multi underpass, flyover, elevated section, U-girder, extra-dosed cable stayed structure, pavement, finished pedestrian crossing, software control solar light, landscaping and integrated drainage system will be constructed under the project. The CM suggested that before starting construction on the project, traffic flow be diverted through South Baily Road and Serpentine Road for buses and four-wheelers. He directed that the RCD, urban development department and other stakeholders sit together to find out a way for diversion of traffic. Nigam chairman Sanjiv Hans said the BRPNN, which has constructed over 1250 small and big bridges in the last eight years, is today a self-sustained organization. He said in collaboration with the FITT and IIT-Delhi, the Nigam has received proposals for traffic solution on identified roads by PWD Delhi and Ghaziabad Development Authority. Once approved, the Nigam will get its first job outside the state.
