he foundation stones for three development projects in Mormugao were laid down by sports minister Ramesh Tawadkar on Sunday evening, while PWD minister Ramkrishna Dhavalikar laid down the foundation stone for a sewage treatment plant in Baina.
Speaking at the ocassion, Tawadkar said, "The BJP has seen Goans suffering due to lack of development, and that is why we are leaving no stone unturned to give Goans what they deserve."
He laid down the foundation stone for a sub-station which is designed to supply power exclusively to the Mormugao constituency, but which can also cater to the needs of the neighboring constituency of Vasco if required. The cost of the project is estimated at 8.75 crores.
Tawadkar also laid the foundation stone for the underground cabling project which is estimated to cost around 64 crores. The foundation stone for the development of the Rose circle ground, which is currently lying in a dilapidated condition was also laid.
"After the huge success of the Lusofonia Games, we are now planning to organize the National Games in 2017. This time, we will be catering to 12, 000 players and hence such projects are veryimportant," Tawadkar said.
Power minister and Mormugao MLA Milind Naik said, "The work that the people of Goa are witnessing today is the result of a joint effort. We have several other projects lined up as well."
PWD minister Ramkrishna 'Sudin' Dhavalikar laid down the foundation stone for a 20mld sewage treatment plant at Katem, Baina. The existing sewage treatment plant in Vasco, had been commissioned in 1985. The new plant will cater to the three constituencies of Mormugao, Vasco and Dabolim.
