Bhopal Development Authority (BDA) has undertaken an ambitious project of developing two commercial centres in the city. The centres, which will be bigger in area than entire MP Nagar area, will be coming up in the next fiscal with an investment of Rs 120 crore.
The commercial centres will be developed near the city airport -- one at Mubarakpur square and the other at Badwai. The centre at Mubarakpura square will be spread in an area of 73 acre at Aerocity phase II while Badwai centre would be spread in a 40 acre area at Aerocity scheme. Both will have 250 commercial plots with BDA shopping complexes, hotels among other facilities for commercial activities.
The official announcement was made by BDA chairperson and divisional commissioner, S B Singh while presenting the authority budget here on Friday. The Rs 582.74 crore with a Rs 9 crore surplus was passed by executive board. Singh said that that the commercial centres would be on the lines of those in MP Nagar and New Market. Singh said that the grade separator at Board Office square that was announced last year will also take off this year in August.
