This is perhaps the only project to get in-principle approval so quickly. The project is likely to cost at least Rs 8,680 crore. Once state government includes the changes and sends back the revised DPR, the project details are circulated for inter-ministerial consultation. An official note for public investment is circulated and after approval by the board and the finance ministry, the UD ministry circulates a Cabinet note. Finally, the Cabinet approves the proposal. This process takes about a year.
