The state government has released Rs 10.95 crore to develop 36 projects in Dakshina Kannada district.
Deputy commissioner AB Ibrahim said on Tuesday that the development cost of 36 projects, including Rs 12 crore for the ropeway bridge between Sultan Battery and TannirBavi, development of beach tourism, infrastructure to tourist spots, was estimated at Rs 40.25 crore.
Ibrahim, who is also the Chairman of Tourism Development Committee, said for the Rs 40.25 crore proposals, state had released Rs 10.95 crore.
Mangalore South MLA JR Lobo directed officials to take up the ropeway project expeditiously and said that he had discussed with PWD and tourism ministers to release the grants soon.
Regarding the expenditure, Lobo said of the Rs 10.95 crore released a sum of Rs 73.25 lakh is being used for development of tourist facilities at Panambur, Rs 76.80 lakh for TannirBavi, Rs 76.80 lakh for Ullal and Someshwar beaches, Rs 1 crore for the ropeway and Rs 2 crore for YatriNivas at Venoor. Also, a sum of Rs 45 lakh and Rs 75 lakh for development of tourist facilities at Kadri and KukkeSubrahmanya temple will be spent, said Tourism Deputy Director AjithJithendranath. Of the 36 projects, 14 were complete and 12 were yet to start.
