UPSIDC management has made contact with big companies which have specialization in solar power plants and got positive response. There are possibilities that around 120 acres of land would be allocated for a solar power plant company at Lalitpur within couple of weeks. There are indications that land for another solar power plant would be allotted in Kannauj district.
Source revealed that thermal power plants at Ghatampur and Bilhaur had been sanctioned and process had begun, entrepreneurs had also evinced interest in investment in the state. Keeping in mind the scarcity of power in the state, UPSIDC had decided to go for solar power plants to meet the demand of power by industries.
UPSIDC managing director Manoj Singh said that negotiation are on with companies having expertise in solar power plant. In the first phase, plants might be installed at Kanpur, Lalitpur, Kannauj and Allahabad. At Allahabad, UPSIDC had planned to set a high-tech city in 1,200 acres of land while in Bulandshahar, high-tech city would be established near Chola on 4,000 acres of land. In Kanpur, the high-tech city had been planned near Ganga barrage on 1,151 acres of land.
He informed that several solar power plant companies were ready to invest in the state and once things would be cleared, then UPSIDC would allocate land to them. Efforts were being made to allocate land to solar power plant near industrial villages. Sources revealed that in Kanpur, a company had contacted to set up a power plant in Chakeri locality.
