The Union Government Has Sanctioned Rs 67.62 Crore To The Kochi Corporation Under The Rajiv Awas Yojana (RAY) Scheme For Constructing Houses In The Slum Areas Of Calvathy, Thuruthy And Koncheri. The Decision Was Taken At The Central Sanctioning And Monitoring Committee Meeting Held In New Delhi On Monday. Corporation Town Planning Officer K B Gopalakrishna Pillai, Who Attended The Meeting, Said, "Almost 755 Families Residing In The Three Slums Will Benefit From The Project. We Will Construct 180 Row Houses, 83 Independent Houses, Two-Floor Buildings For Six Families, Flats For 398 Families, Besides Renovating Houses Of 88 Families." The Corporation Also Plans To Construct Roads And Bridges, Provide Drinking Water Facility, Implement Rainwater Harvesting Projects, Install Streetlights, Sewage Facilities And Build Anganwadi And Library In The Area Using The Funds. According To Corporation, The Project Will Be Completed In Three Years.
