The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) to consider the allocation of about Rs 2,900 crore for three schemes that include the setting up of cold chains and mega food parks by 2017. There are proposals by the Food Processing and Consumer Affairs Ministries on the agenda list. They have sought approval of funds for implementation of 12th Plan (2012-17) schemes. The Food Processing Ministry has sought approval for release of Rs 1,714 crore funds under Mega Food Park scheme for setting up of already appraised 12 new projects in the current plan. It has also sought allocation of Rs 786 crore funds for setting up of already appraised 75 new cold chains projects.
