The Government Of Orissa Has Decided To Invest Rs 3,600 Crore In The Power Sector. The Cabinet Meeting Chaired By State Chief Minister Has Approved Rs 2,600 Crore Outlay For Construction Of 520 New 33/11 KV Substations While Rs 1,000 Crore Was Pegged For Installing Dedicated Feeders For Agriculture And Fishery Sectors. The Installation Of The Substations Would Be Completed In Three Years And The Power Feeders In Four Years. The State Government Aims To Compensate Rs 255 Crore Transmission And Distribution Losses (T&D) Annually After Commissioning Of The Substations. Reduction Of One Per Cent Of ATC (Aggregate Technical And Commercial) Will Benefit The State By Rs 85 Crore. Therefore, The State Will Benefit By Rs 255 Crore Annually In Case ATC Loss Is Reduced By Three Percent. The State Already Have 573 Existing Substations, They Were Not Enough To Meet The Demands. The State Required About 1200 Substations In Order To Supply Quality Power To The Consumers. The State Government Has Already Identified Land Required For Installation Of New Substations.
