Naveen Jindal's Jindal Steel & Power Limited Has Embarked On An Ambitious 1320 MW Thermal Power Plant At Godda, Jharkhand The Plant, Which Is Due To Come Up In Three And Half Years, Will Consist Of Two Units Of 660 MW Each And Will Require An Investment Of Rs 8500 Crore. It Will Be The First Power Project In The State To Be Built On Supercritical Technology. The Company Has Already Decided To Set Up 6 Million Tonne Steel Making Capacity Each At Patratu And Asanboni, Along With Another 1320 MW Power Plant At Patratu In Ramgarh District. A Part Of The Coal For The Godda Power Project Will Be Sourced From Jitpur Coal Block Located Some 10 Km Away From The Project Site. JSPL Is Planning To Acquire 1000 Acres For Developing The Coal Block Has Mineable Reserves Of 65 Million Tonne That Is Expected To Meet The Requirements Of One Unit Of 660MW For 15 Years. The Company Is Awaiting Stage II Forest Clearance For The Coal Block After Which It Can Apply For Mining Lease
