The World Bank Has Signed An Agreement With The Department Of Economic Affairs(DEA) Under The Union Finance Ministry To Provide A Rs 1,166 Crore Loan For The Second Phase Of The Kerala State Transport Project. Apart From It Eight Roads In The State, Totalling 367 Kms In Length, Will Be Developed Into World Class Ones As Part Of The Project Which Is Expected To Cost Rs 2,403 Crore. A World Bank Team, Led By Senior Transport Economist Simon D Ellis, Had Earlier Conducted A Series Of Discussions With The PWD And KSTP Officials On The Project. Mr Sanjeev Kaushik, Director, DEA Signed The Agreement With Mr Arnab Bandyopadhyay, Senior Transport Engineer, World Bank India Office. Finance Minister KM Mani Had Already Allocated Rs 280 Crore For The Project In The State Budget For 2013-14. The Signing Of The Agreement Is Expected To Speed Up The Work
