Three Year Old Proposal Of SAIL And RITES To Set Up A Wagon-Building Plant In West Bengal May Be Ready For Commissioning By October 2013. SAIL-RITES Bengal Wagon Industry Pvt Ltd, 50:50 JV Company Has Erected A 9,500 Square Metre Shed On Land Of SAIL At Kulti In Bardhaman District Of State. In First Phase Of Project Rs 85-Crore Was To Be Commissioned By December 2011, & Rs 120-Crore For Second Phase Was To Be Ready By 2013-14. The Unit Was To Have Initial Capacity Of 250 Wagons A Year, Which Was To Go Up To 1,200 High-End Wagons A Year. According To Official Sources Apart From Providing The Land, SAIL Would Put In Proportionate Investment In The Joint Venture.
