Sterlite Industries, a Vedanta Group company has reported progress on its 160 MW captive power plant project in Tuticorin. As of December 2012, the first unit of capacity 80 MW has been commissioned. The company would use 65 MW of power required for its copper smelter and would sell the rest in the maket.
