Cochin Shipyard is planning to set up an international ship repair facility at Willingdon Island. The project involves putting up a modern ship-lift system in the island owned by Cochin Port Trust. The facility will be used for the repairs of small ships up to 130 mtrs in size so that the existing ship repair facility in the yard can be dedicated to value added repairs of larger ships. As of December 2012, Cochin Shipyard (CSL) and the Cochin Port Trust signed a contract for setting up the facility by the yard in the port area.
