IISCO, a unit of SAIL has reported progress on its 2.5-million tonne per annum integrated steel plant at Burnpur near Asansol in West Bengal. As of December 2012, the company has commissioned a 3.8 million tonnes capacity Sinter plant which is a part of the green field project. The sinter plant is expected to supply up to 80 per cent of the total iron bearing capacity of the blast furnace at the integrated steel plant.
