Meghalaya Mineral Development Corporation
Meghalaya Mineral Development Corporation is planning to set up a 1,320 MW pithead power plant. As of November 2012, MMDC has been awarded the coal block with reserve of 1,200 million tonne, jointly with Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC), Tamil Nadu Electricity Board (TNEB) and Assam Mineral Development Corporation (AMDC). The company has reportedly requested from the state government in in identifying a suitable plot of land in the pithead area of Talcher coalfields for settting up the project.
