| 2 | Temporary repair to the damaged regulatory gate gear mechanism of additional new bay of size 16ft x 8.5ft installed at MRC head works Akhnoor. The job is to be executed by way of making alignment of the drum hoist gear assemblies at both ends of the regulatory gate. Cleaning of the gear thoroughly to remove oil and grease and checking for subsurface cracks around the broken teeth. Fixing/locking of the drum hoist gear assemblies of both ends at a particular position for carrying out temporary repairs. Grinding out the remaining stump of the broken teeth to create a clean, U-shaped pocket for maximum weld penetration. Depositing weld metal in controlled layers using the appropriate alloy filler wire, maintaining interpass temperature. Drilling of the holes at the points where the teeth of the gear are broken and fixing of the suitable elements into the holes and carving out the temporary teeth as per the sample by welding works using high quality welding electrodes. The process is to be carried out for 12no.s broken teeth as per sample The job is to be carried out precisely so that the arrangement works well for remaining period of the irrigation season and in case of any emergent closure of the canal. During execution of the works on the additional new bay, safety belts/full body harness, along with fibre ropes anchored with suitable safety mechanism on ground are to be used to hold the worker/arrest free fall in case of any unfortunate incident during execution of work. The workers should wear a personal floating device which may consist of a vest, jacket or full length suit. The floating device should also include one or two under-straps to be worn between the legs of the workers and also a headrest flap, to prevent slipping out of the vest.Complete Job involves cost of skilled/semi-skilled labour charges, chain block charges, cost of safety device/equipments required, cost of POL if required, hiring of tools & tackles and their transportation to and fro from workshop to Main Head Works, Akhnoor.
