| 2 | M & L for Drilling Boreholes of 150mm dia in Any Type of Soil but excluding Any Type of Rock up to Rock Strata for Main Building and up to a minimum of 15.00 Metres in case of Other Structures including conducting following activities:[a] Conduct of SPT at every 1.5 m Interval or Change of Strata whichever occurs earlier.[b] Collection of Undisturbed Soil Sample [UDS] at every 1.5 m Interval or Change of Strata whichever occurs earlier. A minimum Gap of 500mm shall be ensured between SPT and collection of UDS. Tentative Borehole depths in Soil Strata for Main Buildings [2 Blocks] shall be 10 X 24.00 = 240.00 RM, for Pump House shall be 1 X 15.00 = 15.00 RM and for UG Sump of 1.75 Lakhs & 1.50 Lakhs Litres Capacity shall be 1 X 15.00 = 15.00 RM [Total Quantity: 270.00 RM]. The depth specified is for rough guidance only. |
| 3 | M & L for Drilling Boreholes in Any Type of Rock [Soft/Hard] using Hydraulic Drilling Machine within the Borehole for Cutting Cores in Rock and Collection of Cores of requisite Size and Length as per relevant Indian Standards, Logging Core Recovery, Drilling shall continue till minimum 5.00m into Hard Rock Strata and Conducting following Laboratory Tests on Rock Sample / Cores collected from Boreholes as per Relevant Indian Standards i.e. IS – 2720 [ All Parts], IS – 1498, IS – 9143, IS – 13030, IS – 9221, IS – 8764, IS – 9179, IS – 10050, IS – 10082, IS – 10782, IS – 12608, IS – 13047 & IS – 3025] complete all as specified and as directed:[a] Visual Classification[b] Density[c] Specific Gravity[d] Hardness[e] Slake Durability / Degree of Weathering [f] Uniaxial Compression Test [ Crushing Strength] [ Both Saturated and Unsaturated][g] Point Load Strength Index.[h] RQD [ Rock Quality Designation]Note: The Boring / Drilling shall be executed invariably in all Bore Holes of Main Building for a depth of 5.00 Metres. In case of encountering Rock Strata at deeper depth i.e. beyond 24.00 Metres, the Boring / Drilling shall be carried out for at least in 3 Boreholes spread uniformly in the Building Area. Tentative Depth of Rock Drilling in Main Building shall be 10.0 X 5.0 = 50.00 RM, Pump House Building shall be 1.0 X 5.0 = 5.00 RM and for Sumps – 2 Nos shall be1.0 X 5.0= 5.00 RM [Total Depth = 60.00 RM]. The depth specified is for rough guidance only. |
| 4 | M & L for Conduct of following Laboratory Tests as per Relevant Indian Standards [See IS – 2720 [All Parts], IS – 1498 and IS – 3025] on Soil Samples Collected complete all as specified and as directed:[a] Test on Disturbed / Undisturbed Soil Samples:[i] Visual and Engineering Classification. [ii] Sieve Analysis and Hydrometer Analysis.[iii] Atterberg Limits [Liquid Limit, Plastic Limit and Shrinkage Limit]. [iv] Specific Gravity.[v] Free Swell Index. [b] Test as on Undisturbed Soil Samples.[i] Bulk Density and Moisture Content.[ii] Unconfined Compression Test [On Remoulded Undisturbed Sample].[iii] Swelling Pressure [On Undisturbed & Remoulded Sample][iv] Determination of C & Ǿ Values Using Direct Shear [Drained / Undrained] [On Remoulded or Undisturbed Sample] or Triaxial Compression Tests [On Undisturbed or Remoulded Sample] or Vane Shear Test.Note: The rate quoted shall be deemed for a Borehole of depth 24.00 Metres in Soils. If any variation in depth is found both Plus or Minus, the same shall be adjusted at proportional rate. |

| 6 | M & L for Chemical Analysis of Soil Samples One Each from Each Strata in respect of One Bore Hole complete all as specified and as directed. If different Strata[s] encountered in any of the Borehole, additional Soil Samples shall be analysed. On completion of the On-site and Laboratory Tests, Subsurface Investigation Report shall be prepared which shall include Geological Information, procedure adopted for Investigation, Field Observations, Laboratory or Test Data, Analysis, Interpretation, Recommendations etc. Composition of Subsurface Investigation Report shall include but not limited to the following: |
| 7 | [a] Dimensioned Plan showing Location and Depth of In-Situ Tests, Co-Ordinates of Borehole Locations with reference to Prominent Permanent Features of the site duly signed by Engineer-in-Charge, GE & Geo Consultant.[b] Geological Information of the area.[c] General Topography of the Site, duly marking RL of the location of Boreholes with reference to RL of Nearby Permanent Features available at site duly signed by Engineer-in-Charge, GE & Geo Consultant.[d] Past usage and Historical Data of the site, if available. Information regarding Flooding of the site in the Past, High Flood Level etc.[e] Bore-Log and Trial Pit Log duly signed by Engineer-in-Charge, GE & Geo Consultant.[f] In-situ Test Results.[g] Plot of Standard Penetration Test [N Values both Uncorrected and Corrected] with Depth for Identified Areas.[h] Laboratory Test Results[j] Summary of Strata Profile |
| 8 | [k] In case of Pressure Meter Tests the following shall be furnished:[i] Calibration Record including, description of Membrane and Sheath on Probes, Dimension of Thick-Walled Cylinder, Length of Flexible Tubing, Calibration Curves/Chart, Temperature, etc.[ii] Drilling Record including, Borehole Number, Method of Making Borehole, Log of Soil Type and Condition, Depth of Water in Borehole, Weather and Temperature.[iii] Test Record: Type of test, Date and Time, Depth of Centre Point of Probe, Volume Readings at 30 Seconds and 60 Seconds Elapsed Time and Corresponding Pressure Readings, Notes on any Deviation from Standard Test Procedure, Field Pressure Meter, Creep and Air Calibration Curves indicating Pₒ, Pᵳ and Pl, corrected Pressure Meter and Creep Curves indicating Pₒ, Pᵳ and Pl along with Calculation for the corrections. |
| 9 | Reporting of In-Situ and Laboratory Test Results shall be in Accordance with Relevant Indian Standards. The Report shall include / comprise of Analysis and Interpretation of Results, Analysis of Test Results, Discussion and Interpretation of Results analysed including basis of adopting Design Parameters for the Substrata and shall also specify following details:[i] For Shallow Foundations: Net allowable Bearing Pressure Considering Shear, Settlement Criteria as well as SPT Value for Isolated Footing, Continuous Strip Footing and Raft Foundation at depth 1.5 m, 2.0 m, 2.5 m and 3.00 m. For calculations IS – 6403 shall be used. Modulus of Subgrade Reaction and Modulus of Elasticity of Substrata. In case of UG Sumps / Swimming Pools, K Value from 0.5m to 5.0m depth.[ii] For Pile Foundations: Safe Load Carrying Capacity [Compression, Pull Out and Horizontal with Free Head as well as supported Head Pile Load Capacities shall be worked out for 300, 400, 450 & 500 for Underreamed Piles and for 450, 500, 550, 600, 700 & 750 dia for End Bearing Piles.[iii] If weak soil with lesser N value as specified in Table – 1 of IS – 1893 [Part – 1] is encountered then evaluation of liquefaction potential shall be assessed and remedial actions to be adopted shall be specified.[iv] Suitability of the soil for backfilling around foundations / filling under floors.[v] Susceptibility of Sub-Soil Strata to Liquefaction, if any, in the event of Dynamic Loading and required Remedial Measures.[vi] Remedial Measures against the Presence of Harmful Chemicals in the Sub-Soil / Ground Water.[vii] Remedial Measures for Foundation Footings, Plinth Beams and Filling Under Floors in case of meeting Expansive Soils. |
| 10 | The contractor shall submit Videographic and Photographic Record [03 Copies] along with 6 Sets of Hard Copies and 6 Sets of Soft Copies duly signed including Soil Investigation Report for visual description of Soil Samples and Traverse Section Profiles of Substrata before claiming payment. |
| 11 | Note for Serial Item No. 2 to 6 of BoQ: The rate quoted for Serial Item No. 2 to 6 of BoQ is deemed to be inclusive of the following. Nothing shall be paid extra on any account: |
| 12 | Mobilisation of necessary Plant & Machinery, Equipment, Men and Materials as required to the Project Site for carrying out the Geotechnical Investigation and Demobilisation of the same after completion of all the Field Works etc. all complete all as specified and as directed. |
| 13 | Arrangement for Drilling / Boring shall be made and open pits are not allowed under any circumstances. Special attention to following clauses of the IS Code is invited while carrying out SPT: |
| 14 | Equipment used shall provide a clean bore hole, 150 mm in dia to ensure that the Standard Penetration Test is performed on Undisturbed Soil and shall permit driving of Split Spoon Sampler to obtain Penetration Record along with Samples as specified in IS code of practice. |
| 15 | While driving casing, it shall not be driven below the level at which the test is to be carried out or from where the sample is to be taken. |
| 16 | In case wash boring is adapted for cleaning of the borehole, only side-discharge bits are permitted; a bottom discharge bit is not permitted while boring through soils which may get disturbed by flow of water while boring above water table level. |
| 17 | Shifting and transportation of entire arrangement including men, materials from one Bore to another Bore including and setting of bore for carrying out the test. |
| 18 | Collection of undisturbed samples at specified depth interval as well as at any change of strata, including waxing, sealing, packing, transporting of sample collected to Testing Laboratory as required for the purpose of Testing and their Preservation. |
| 19 | Compilation of Data, Field and Laboratory Test Reports, and Preparation and submission of Report as per As per NBC 2016 / Relevant IS in 6 Sets of Hard Copies and 6 Sets of Soft Copies containing Scope of Investigation, Method of Drilling Boreholes, Sampling from Borehole, Visual Description of Soil Sample, Ground Levels along with Ground Water Table Levels, Test Results [both Laboratory and Field] including Graphs, Photographs of Equipment including Drilling/Boring Rigs and Samples Collected, Section Profile of Sub Strata, Analysis of Field and Lab Investigation Results, Net Safe Bearing Capacity [NSBC], Safe Bearing Capacity [SBC] at Particular Depths considering effect of Water Table, incorporating Type of Soil in Pressure Bulb Zone, Highest Water Table and Settlement Test Results, Detailed Calculations of SBC and Recommended SBC, CBR Test Results, Modulus of Soil Reaction [K Value], Graphs, Charts, Calculations, Drawings etc. and Recommendation for Foundations etc. |
| 20 | Furnishing SBC Report including recording SBC for each location for the type of foundation and maintaining photographic record. Submission of detailed recommendation for shallow foundation and bearing capacity of soil [SBC] at various depths, Type of foundation and depths of footing be clearly specified. |
| 21 | The final report shall be vetted / checked before submission to the department by any Indian Institute of Technology / National Institute of Technology / Central Building Research Institute, Roorkee / Structural Engineering Research Centre, Chennai under their own arrangements, before finalization of report. A certificate to this effect shall be furnished to the department before claiming payment. |
| 22 | The contractor shall submit Videographic and Photographic Record [03 Copies] along with 6 Sets of Hard Copies and 6 Sets of Soft Copies duly signed including Soil Investigation Report for visual description of Soil Samples and Traverse Section Profiles of Substrata before claiming payment. |
| 23 | Consultancy Services for carrying out the following tests on Structural Components [Reinforced Cement Concrete] to assess the Structural Integrity, Stability and Condition of the Structures in accordance with IS – 13311 [Part – 1 & Part – 2] and other relevant Indian Standards as applicable complete in all respects, as specified and as directed. |
| 24 | [a] Visual Inspection and Documentation: Carrying out a Detailed Visual Inspection of the Structures to identify and assess Structural Defects such as Spalled Concrete, Cracks, Honeycombing, Reinforcement Corrosion, Delaminated Concrete and other Visible Signs of Deterioration. The scope includes preparation of Defect Mapping on Drawings, Photographic, Videographic Documentation and recording of all observed defects for assessment of the Structural Condition.[b] Rebound Hammer Test: Conducting Rebound Hammer Tests on RCC Members in accordance with IS – 13311 [Part – 2] using Portable Rebound Hammer Equipment for assessment of Surface Hardness and Indicative Compressive Strength of Concrete.[c] Ultrasonic Pulse Velocity [UPV] Test: Conducting Ultrasonic Pulse Velocity [UPV] Tests on RCC Members in accordance with IS – 13311 [Part – 1] using Portable Digital Ultrasonic Non-Destructive Testing Equipment to evaluate the quality and uniformity of Concrete. The work shall include removal and reinstatement of plaster at strategic test locations, wherever required.[d] Core Test: Extracting 70 mm Diameter Concrete Cores from selected RCC Members and carrying out Compressive Strength testing in accordance with IS – 516. The work shall include restoration of Core Holes using approved bonding agents and Specialized Epoxy Mortar / Micro-Concrete to ensure Structural Continuity.[e] Reinforcement Mapping: Carrying out Reinforcement Mapping of RCC Members using suitable Non-Destructive Equipment to determine Reinforcement Cover, Spacing, Orientation, and Approximate Bar Diameter at Strategic Locations. |
| 25 | Notes for Serial Item No. 7:1. Non-Destructive Testing [NDT] shall be carried out to assess the extent of Cracking, Structural Distress and Deterioration. The Consultant shall submit a Comprehensive Structural Condition Assessment Report indicating the present condition of the Structures, Probable Causes of Distress, Recommended Repair and Rehabilitation Methodology, Structural Strengthening Measures and Recommendations for enhancing the Service Life of the Buildings.2. The Report shall include detailed Test Results, Analysis and Interpretation of Observations, Structural Evaluation, Conclusions, Repair Methodology, Technical Specifications and preparation of Detailed Bill of Quantities [BoQ] for the proposed Repair and Rehabilitation Works.3. The Final Report shall be technically vetted and authenticated by Indian Institute of Technology / National Institute of Technology / Central Building Research Institute, Roorkee / Structural Engineering Research Centre, Chennai as approved by the Garrison Engineer.4. The Consultant shall submit Final Report duly signed in Original along with Videographic and Photographic Record [03 Copies], 6 Sets of Hard Copies and 6 Sets of Soft Copies in CD/DVD or any other approved Digital Storage Media, complete in all respects before claiming payment.5. The rates quoted shall be deemed to include the cost of Mobilization and Demobilization of all required Plant and Machinery, Testing Equipment, Instruments, Consumables, Materials, Skilled Engineers, Technicians, Labour, Transportation, Report Preparation, Technical Vetting, Photography, Videography, Restoration of test Locations, and all other incidental expenses necessary for carrying out the Non-Destructive Testing [NDT] and submission of the Final Report complete in all respects as specified and as directed.
