| 61 | LAYING & WELDING OF FIRE HYDRANT PIPELINES (UNDER GROUND) IN ZONE- B with Wrapping / Coating Laying and welding (3 runs min.) under ground/ below ground pipelines from supplied MS pipes (pipes to be supplied anywhere within the depot and the contractor shall shift the same to the site of work at no extra cost with all leads and lifts) of the following sizes as described below, including cutting, bevelling and fixing the supplied specials such as elbows, bends, tees, reducers, etc complete and successful hydrotesting the pipeline at a pressure of 10.5 kg/cm2 for a minimum period of 4 Hrs. The job includes Dye Penetration (DP) testing of pipeline joints as per approved QAP. Underground pipelines to be laid at a depth as per site condition/ laying through hume pipes/ culverts & Painting/Coating the same as detailed in the enclosed specifications. ( radiography shall not be done for fire hydrant lines & for lines to be used for water services). Note: a. Civil works for laying of UG hydrant pipeline will be paid separately. b. Wrapping/Coating to be done as per specification given below & detailed specification given in tender document.. c. Any repairs to the defective welding shall be made good at no extra cost to IOCL. i) Surface preparation : Blast cleaning to Sa 2½ ii) Primer : Apply a coat of primer (Coal Tar and solvent based primer) of density 0.90 to 0.95 gm/cm3 and viscosity of 1000-2000 centipoise (Pypkote primer manufactured by IWL or its equivalent) at the rate of 100 gm/sq.m. The primer shall be allowed to dry until the solvent evaporates and the surface becomes tacky. iii) Pypkote AW 4mm tape or equivalent is wound around the pipe in spiral fashion and bonded completely to the primer coated surface of the pipe by thermo fusion process and with recommended overlaps as per manufacturers’ specifications. The overlaps are sealed by the same thermo fusion process. 250mm is left uncoated on either end of the pipe to permit installation and welding. |
