| 315 | Material and Labour for complete surface preparation of old, existing polished wooden surfaces and re-application of melamine polish with following process, ensuring a smooth and aesthetically appealing glossy or matte finish all as directed: (a) Surface Preparation:(i) Carefully scrape/grind the old polished surface using appropriate tools to remove loose, flaking, or degraded polish. ii) Clean the surface thoroughly by removing all oily spots and contaminants using mineral spirits or alkaline cleaners as necessary.(iii) Rinse thoroughly with clean water and ensure the surface is completely dry. (iv) Remove all stubborn marks or deposits using emery paper or grinder.(v) Fill all cracks, dents, and pores using high-quality wooden filler/putty matching the wood texture and shade. (vi) Sand the entire surface evenly using 80 to 320-grit sandpaper to achieve a smooth finish.(vii) Clean the surface using a dry, lint-free cloth to remove dust and debris. (viii) Repeat the surface preparation process, if required, as per site condition or direction of Engineer-in-Charge.(b) Staining (if required):(i) Apply approved wood stain evenly across the prepared surface as directed.(ii) Allow the stain to dry completely before further processing.(c) Melamine Polish Application:(i) Prepare the melamine polish by mixing Melamine base and hardener in a 9:1 ratio.(ii) Add recommended thinner to achieve the correct spraying consistency.(iii) Mix thoroughly before use.(iii) Use a spray gun to apply a thin, even coat on the surface.(iv) Allow the first coat to dry for 1–2 hours.(v) Lightly sand with 320-grit sandpaper to ensure an even finish.(d) Re-Coating Process:(i) Apply a total of 2 to 3 coats, sanding lightly between each coat.(ii) Achieve the desired glossy or matte finish as per site requirements.NOTE: All work shall be carried out in a neat, professional manner, adhering strictly to safety, quality, and environmental standards. Materials used shall be of Asian Paints/Nerolac/Dulux Paints/Berger/Nippon Paints as approved make/brand and conform to relevant IS specifications. Work to be carried out to the entire satisfaction of the GE/Engineer-in-Charge. |
