| 1 | Carrying out soil investigation at work site of various project under Air Force Barrackpore (Restricted Area) by drilling of bore holes of 10.00 meter deep and 150 mm dia and at various location as per IS 1892-1979 (Reaffirmed 2002), collecting samples of disturbed and undisturbed soil sample at 1.5m interval and at every change of strata. Drilling for 3.0m depth inside the rock is essential to ensure that boulders or layers of cemented soil are not mistaken for rock and conducting test as per relevant and latest IS code as mentioned below: - Number of test Holes:(a) Bore hole depth 10m deep and 150 mm dia – 4 no. ( Location of BH shall be shown by Rep of MES)Details and Tests required: (i) Grain size analysis, identification & classification of soil (ii) Unit weight (Bulk density), natural moisture content, liquid limit, plastic limit, shrinkage limit, plasticity index, specific gravity, dry density and degree of saturation of soil. (iii) Differential free swell index (%) & swelling pressure if expansive soil is encountered. (iv) Shear Parameters (C-Phi Analysis) and Consolidation test (for cohesive soil only) (v) Chemical analysis of soil and ground water (Water to be obtained from bottom of the bore hole) Depth of water table below (vi) Presence of loose soil if any. If weak soil with lesser N value as specified in table – 1 of IS 1893 (Part-1) 2016 is encountered then evaluation of liquefaction potential shall be assessed and remedial action to be adopted shall be specified. (vii) Crushing strength, degree of weathering (CR Value) and RQD of rock samples (viii) For open foundations, calculation of Net SBC at 1.5m, 2.0m, 2.5m, 3.0m from shear as well as settlement criteria. SBC value shall be calculated based on C-Phi analysis as well as SPT value. For calculations, formulae given in IS 6403 shall be used.(ix) Wherever pile foundations are recommended, type of pile, recommended depth of pile of different diameter etc shall be specified along with supporting calculations. Pile capacity in compression, uplift & lateral loads shall be given. (x)Recommendations regarding type of foundation to be adopted & net SBC/Pile capacities to be adopted Also recommendations shall be given regarding stability of soil and soil stabilization required, if any. |
| 2 | (xi) Bore log details duly marked on plan and their distance from adjacent prominent ref as per Appx D of IS 1892. N values depth wise shall also be shown in bore log details (xii) SPT shall be done till N value of 50 or refusal whichever is earlier.Note: Following will be in scope of order and must be the part of final report: - (a)Report shall be signed by a qualified engineer with degree in M. Tech having experience of minimum 02 Years. Then name and qualification of the signatory shall be clearly shown. (b)Soil investigation consultant should have minimum 01 No ME/M Tech (Geo Tech) with 2 Year experience & 01 no. BE/B Tech (Civ) with 5 Year Experience and must have all adequate tech staff diploma/ITI Qualified. (c)Labs must be govt approved/accredited or any other accreditation body which operates in accordance with ISO/IEC-170011 and accredits the lab as per ISO/IEC: 17025 with state-of-the-art equipment apparatus. (d)Recommendation of SBC should be given for :- • All the bore holes •Min at three depths viz 1.5m, 2.0m and 2.5m. • SBC shall be worked out for following sizes of footings i.e. 1.5X1.5m, 1.5X2.5m, 2.0X2.5m, 2.0X3.0m, 2.5X3.0m (e)Photographic records of exploration as well as the testing shall be form the part of the report. Also Soil or rock samples left out after tests shall be handed over to AGE B/R or Engr-in-Charge. (f) Recommendation as regards possibility of liquidation of soil in case of saturated or partially saturated loose/un-compacted sandy soils. (h) Swelling index and swelling pressure in respect of black cotton soil and its depth/layer. (i) Depth of ground water table (GWT) in peak monsoon and peak summer (highest) after correlation of result with seasonal variation of water table in the station. (j) Recommendation for filler under floors and improvements of existing subsoil using proper soil stabilization methods or stabilization of soil underneath foundation systems. |
