The main aim in this protection shall be to reduce the overvoltage to a tolerable value before it reaches the PV or other sub system components. According to standard, the minimum requirement for a lightning protection system designed for class of LPS III is a 6 mm2 copper/ 16 mm2 aluminum or GI strip bearing size 25*3 mm thick).
