FCMAplus Soft Starter coils should be air core type air Cooled and mounted in dust and vermin proof panel suitable for indoor mounting. The three phase coils must be separately available for repairs in future. Each coil must be wound on epoxy bobbin. Making a common epoxy casting for three coils is strictly not acceptable since it avoids thermal dissipation and also any repair to one coil makes all the three coils assembly useless. All coils should be vacuum pressure impregnated. Vendor should demonstrate temperature rise test- Motor starting current i.e. DC currentof amplitude equal to (Motor full load current x 3.5) shall be injected into all three coils for duration of 2 consecutive start time (2 x starting time). Temperature will be monitored by the temperature sensors embedded inside the coil. Temperature rise shall be less than Class B as per specification, Starting of motor shall be from either Soft Starter panel located near to motor or shall be from PLC.Necessary wiring diagram shall be provided, considering staring interlock, trip circuit, staring and running mode signal and terminated suitably. Design calculation must be submitted along with the tender. Manufacturer must also design the winding such that maximum temp rise after the two consecutive starts should be less than ‘class B’. Design calculation for temp. rise must be submitted. Suitable Thermistor / RTD should be embedded in to all 3 windings with digital temperature scanner for protection. There should be audio-visual alarm in case of the temperature of soft starter coils are higher or any such soft starter failure. Bypass Vacuum Contactor shall be closed, when the Motor starting current is reduce to Motor no load current (Motor has reached the full speed), PLC provided shall monitor the starting current continuously and PLC shall give the bypass command once the motor current reached the motor no load current, i.e closed loop control arrangement for bypass switching.
