11 | Providing the bridge deck waterproofing system 100% reactive, cold, spray applied, 2mm thick Esselac/MMA resin based bridge deck waterproofing membrane system with Esselac/MMA resin based primer and suitable Tack Coat/Bond Coat to receive the subsequent hot asphaltic surfacing. The application of waterproofing membrane shall be in two coats of contrasting colours of 1mm dry film thickness each. The waterproofing membrane system must be IRC accredited and BBA certificate for Bridge Deck Waterproofing in accordance with the UK Product Approval Scheme (HAPAS) approved since last eight years respectively. The waterproofing system must be approved by HAPAS for depths of hot asphaltic surfacing less than 80mm as per the requirements of CD358. The waterproofing membrane must have Accelerated Heat Aging test report for heat aging test period of 36 months in accordance to BS 903 Part A2 and BS 2782 confirming minimal change of less than 10% in tensile strength @ 37oC and @ 80oC temperatures, even after 3 years test signifying durability of the waterproofing system up to the design life of the bridge. There shall be no critical over-coating time for any element of the waterproofing system and the application of the waterproofing system should not be sensitive to relative humidity (% RH). The waterproofing system shall have excellent resistance to Chloride Ion penetration and shall be UV resistant even on longer exposure to UV. The cured waterproofing membrane when tested as per ASTM D 412, should have a minimum 9MPa tensile strength, 120% elongation at break respectively & 1mm crack bridging ability as per ASTM-C-1305. The integrity of the waterproofing membrane on the deck surface shall be checked for pinholes by performing Electrical Holiday Detection Tests over the full surface area of waterproofing membrane after the application of the second coat of waterproofing membrane. |
