Project Description

Tender For Work On Of Following Categories List Of Categories: Biodiversity, Grassland Ecosystem, Wolf, Herbivores, Carnivores Etc. Grass ecology: Identifying the composition, distribution, and relative abundance of grass in the different habitats of the landscape. This will help plan long term management of this landscape. Grass development plan for Rampara sanctuary and ESZ. Check list of Grasses and associated species with photographs. Wolf ecology: With the loss of grasslands, some keystone species such as the wolf have disappeared in large tracts of India. A study which specifically focuses on presence and movement of wolves can be of great significance since the sanctuary is home to this. All aspects pertaining to wolves in the interconnected areas considering home range. Ecosystem Engineers: Several species play an important role in the structuring and functioning of grassland ecosystems, however our knowledge of them is poor since we have traditionally focused on charismatic species. Two such groups are insects and arachnids. E.g Butterflies Bird Ecology: Birds are one of the most common and easy to monitor groups that can help understand the health of an ecosystem. Using a combination of active (transects) and passive (acoustics) surveys, we can have a good inventory of this group, and understand their use of the landscape. Making a Checklist with photos. To understand the overall ecosystem from the birds points of view. Land use change: Quantifying land use, land cover change in the past two decades using GIS and remote sensing. This will help plan long term management of this landscape, and understand the connectivity with outside habitats. Large Herbivore distribution and habitat use: The goal of this is to understand seasonal variation in large herbivores (e.g. Nilgai, Chinkara) use of the landscape. Carnivore distribution and habitat use: The goal of this is to understand seasonal variation in large and small carnivores (e.g. jungle cat, fox, leopard, wolf) use of the landscape. Wildlife Health: Identifying the common ectoparasites of mammalian herbivores and carnivores (e.g. ticks, flea). .Small Mammal Ecology: Rodents form one of the main food sources for small carnivores such as jungle cat, mongoose, fox and jackals, and also for birds of prey. Hence, understanding their species composition and abundance is vital.
