Name of Work: SOIL INVESTIGATION AND TOPOGRAPHICAL SURVEYFOR PROPOSED HIGH SECURITY WALL,MAIN GATE WITH GUARD HOUSE AND WATCH TOWERSAT RAMESWARAM UNDER GE TIRUNELVELI (TENDER ID:2023_MES_605253 _1)
Sl. No. Item Description
Mobilization of equipments for detailed soil investigation and shifting them to location of boreholes and for in-situ tests complete all as specified and directed by Engr-in-charge.
Boringholes 150 mm dia in any type of soil, including weathered rock, soft disintegrated rockand soft rock, but excluding hard rock/fractured rock strata encountered including following activities :
Collection of undisturbed soil samples (UDS) at every 1.50m interval or change of strata whichever occurs earlier ensuring a minimum gap of 500mmbetween Standard Penetration Test (SPT) and collection of UDS. Note: i) Drilling in hard rock/fractured rock shall be measured and paid under item no:3.herein after. ii) In case of meeting boulders, the boring beyond boulders depth shall be measured under this item. iii) In case of non-feasilibility of collection of undisturbed soil sample, disturbed soil sample shall be collected, duly recording the reason. iv) Since the building configuration is G+3 shallow foundation is expected. However, if depth of loose strata (low N value, is encountered the site executives shall go for increased depth of borehole) i.e. 5m below rock strata to enable calculation of pile capacities.
Conducting Standard Penetration Test at every 1.50m intervalupto 10m depth at each bore hole or change of strata whichever occurs earlier.
Drilling holes in Hard rock/fractured rock using hydraulic drilling machine with in the borehole for cutting cores in rock and collection of cores of requisite size and length as per relevant IS standards. Drilling shall continue till minimum 5m into hard rock strata.
Conducting following tests on rock samples / cores collected from boreholes as per relevant Indian Standards [see IS 2720 (all parts) and IS 1498, IS 9143, IS 13030, IS 9221, IS 8764, IS 9179, IS 10050, IS 10082, IS 10782, IS 12608, IS 13047, IS 3025] , for analysing various parameters as given below :
Visual Classification
Density
Specific Gravity
Hardness
Slake durability/Degree of weathering
Uniaxial compression test -crushing strength (both saturated and unsaturated)
Point load strength index
RQD (Rock Quality Designation) Note : i) Item to be operated only in case of encountering rock in borehole with the written permission of GE. ii) This is compulsory item for the cases where pile foundation is anticipated.
Conducting following laboratory tests as per relevant Indian Standards [see IS 2720 (all parts), IS 1498 and IS 3025 on soil sample collected.
Test on Disturbed/undisturbed soil samples: (i) Visual and engineering classification (ii)Sieve analysis and hydrometer analysis (iii)Atterberg Limits (Liquid limit, plastic limit and shrinkage limit) (iv)Specific Gravity (v)Free swell index
Tests on undisturbed soil samples: (a) Bulk density and moisture content (b)Unconfined Compression test (on remoulded undisturbed sample) (c) Swelling pressure (on undisturbed and remoulded sample)
Determination of C and pie values using Direct shear (drained/undrained)(on remoulded or undisturbed sample) or tri axial compression tests (on undisturbed or remoulded sample) or vane shear test.
Chemical analysis of ground water sample collected at the bottom ofbore hole.
Chemical analysis of soil samples one each from each strata in respect of one borehole. If different strata(s) encountered in any other borehole additional soil samples to be analyzed.
Carryingout detailed topographical survey on entire land complete all specified and as directed. Submission of Level survey sheet duly marking the outline of proposed buildings, TBM, High flood level (HFL), proposed MGL and plinth level of each proposed block/structure, plinth level of near by buildings if any, RL of existing roads if any, invert levels of existing drains if any etc.,
Notes : (a) The permanent bench mark should be provided by Engineer incharge. (b) The Temporary bench mark , grids and pillars should be construct by the contractor scope. (c) The scope of work includes surveying equipments such as Electronic total station, surveying instruments, tools and plants, material and labours, qualified surveyors, scaffolding when required and all other items which are essential to complete the work. (d) The contractor should submit the methodology and accuracy if any clarified at site only. (e) The contractor should submit the brief presentation to the accepting officer and should incorporate the changes before submission of the final report.
Vetting of soil test report from Government college professor for final submission with MES authority.
