Name of Work: Construction of UHV laboratory, at UHVRL, CPRI, Hyderabad. SH: Fabrication and Erection of Structural steel works (Balance Civil works). SH – 1 : Painting to the stitch welding portion of external cladding.

11) Supplying and painting with Aliphatic polyurethane based paint (Two component i.e., one is base and second is hardener) of approved brand and manufacture to vertical external PPG (Pre-Painted Galvanized Iron) sheet cladding at the discolored portion due to stitch welding’s along all horizontal and vertical joints of PPG sheet with two or more coats as specified by the manufacturer to match with the existing shade of the PPG sheets and directions of the Engineer-In-Charge. The operations shall be carried out in the following manner:
2a) The correct procedure shall be to scrape thoroughly with a hand scraper followed by wire-brushing (first with coarse and then with fine wire-brushes), and finally sand-papering the surface with coarse sand paper (No.3) steel wood (No.2) or emery paper (No.3) or emery cloth. This will give a reasonable assurance that no loose mill scale or heavy rust is left on the surface. For purpose of examination, the hand cleaned surface shall be wiped finally with mineral turpentine, which also removes grease and perspiration left by hand-marks. The methodology for removal of the rust shall be as per the IS: 1477-1971 and the directions of the Engineer-In-Charge. Operation includes the cleaning of the surface with metal wire brushes, steel wood, sand paper, emery paper, cloth etc., to remove all dust, any loose materials, fungus etc all complete.
3b) Supplying and application of Cleaner conditioner of Protech or equivalent over rust removed stitch welds surface with one or more coatsas per the methodology of application shall be strictly as per manufacturer"s specifications anddirection of Engineer-In-Charge.
4c) Supplying and application of Rust Converter of Protech or equivalent over rust removed stitch welds surface with one or more coats with brush or spray and leave for six to eight hours for dryingas per the methodology of application shall be strictly as per manufacturer"s specifications anddirection of Engineer-In-Charge.
5d) Applying finishing/ top coat with aliphatic High Gloss Metal Polyurethane Paint of Asian Paints or Polyurethane Paints of Protech or equivalent in two component aliphatic polyurethane coating in one or more coats of application with brush or spray shall be applied to dry surface as specified by the manufacturer specifications, to match the shade of PPG Sheet and the methodology of application shall be strictly as per manufacturer"s specifications and as directed by Engineer-In-Charge.
6e) The combined total thickness of the both base coat and top coat should be 90 to 100 microns DFT.
7f) The approximate size of each painting patch at each welded portion is about 70mm x 115mm or more. The stitch welding is at approx. 350 mm Center to center. The painting to patches of stitch welded portion (work) shall be done for external cladding after carrying outof tightening of Screws and application of silicon sealant for the entire lab wherever required (Found loose) as per the direction of engineer in charge. Prior approval for all brands of paints, shade shall be got approved by the Engineer-in-charge and CPRI before painting material brought to site.
8g) The rate shall be inclusive of all materials, machinery, labour, man lifter/ crane lift, scaffoldingsafety equipments or any other required at all heights up to 45 meters above ground level and removing and re-fixing of PPG sheet wherever required if any.The painting work of the laboratory detailed in scope shall be carried out by using suitable man lifter / crane lift, scaffolding etc around the laboratory. Suitable paint brush / roller etc., shall be used to give the smooth finish.Color of desired shade is to be matched with the existing color after obtaining approval from Engineer-In-Charge. The rate includes mandatory Insurance Charges for workforce and cost of all materials and labour. No extra cost shall be paid on any account.
9All the above operations will be done in sequential order and the total area of external cladding shall be measured for payment irrespective of number of above operations for square metre.
102) Providing and laying in position bitumen hot (Tar)sealing compound all along periphery of the UHV Laboratory of joints of dissimilar materials(as per the site conditions)i.e., GI sheet cladding and Cement concrete or as per the site condition so as to arrest the seepage of water in to the Laboratory floor. The size of the joint shall be about 15mm to 25mm wide and 20mm to 50mm deep. Grade ‘A’ bitumen sealing compound should be applied after making groove of required size with chisel, hammer and any other suitable power tools. Groove should be cleaned thoroughly with metal brushes/air blower etc., all complete as per the directions of the Engineer-in-charge. No extra payment shall be paid towards uneven shape, size etc.
113) Providing and applying high strength, epoxy resin free flow grout, a three component solvent free epoxy resin grout(CONBEXTRA EP 75 of M/s FOSROC or equivalent approved brand)for grouting at the main door channel/guide sides of dimension 16 m length and 25 mm to50 mm depth and 25 mm to 50 mm width includingproviding and applying of approved qualityof epoxy resin based primer for priming of steel surfaces etc complete as per the designs, drawings & directions of the Engineer in charge. The area/surface to be grouted shall be cleaned with metal wire brushes or any other suitable power tools to remove all dust and fungus etc all complete.
